Kazbegi is an urban-type village, it is situated in the central part of the big Caucasus, at the foot of the Kazbegi mountain, 1774 m above sea-level, on the right bank of the river Tergi, at 165 km distance north from Tbilisi. The Kazbegi mountain here is covered with eternal snow.

The characteristic properties of the climate in Kazbegi are mild winter and warm summer.

Sunny days are frequent in the village resort. Air is fresh and pellucid. It is good for treatment of respiratory diseases.

Along with the mountain skiing resort situated on the Caucasus main range near to the Jvari mountain pass. It is known all over the world as the skiing center. Gudauri is located in the alpine zone 1950-2200m above sea-level, but its orientation towards the South creates special microclimate. Summer in Gudauri is cool and agreeable. Winter is sunny and windless. The average thickness of snow blanket is 140cm, and 190 cm on ski-tracks. The skiing season lasts 5 months, from December till the end of April.

Gudauri is the best place for extreme skiing. Only Canadian resorts can compete with Gudauri in this.

Here is the 60km stretch of the main range of the Caucasus for those who like skiing in untouched snow. They will be taken there by a helicopter.

In summer Gudauri is the best place for active recreation. The horse routes and boating on the river Aragvi (on rubber inflatable boats) are popular kinds of relaxation here.

Trekking to the Truso gorge, the Devdoraki summit and sloe growth are arranged for travelers on foot. You can also enjoy the helicopter trips to the Keli lake and the Suatisi summit.
