Georgia is situated in the Caucasus, between latitudes 41° and 44° N, and longitudes 40° and 47° E, with an area of 67,900 km2 (26,216 sq mi). Country lies on the eastern Black Sea coast, along the southern slopes of the Great Caucasus Mountains. Due to its high landscape and climatic diversity, the area is a home for over 250 species of birds that breed in Georgia. Some of these spices are common in Europe, especially in the Mediterranean region, Central Asia and Middle East, and the others are extremely rare in the world. Geographically situated between Black and Caspian Seas the country is natural funnel during the migration of the birds, therefore some other 110 spices can be met during the spring and autumn migration.
